Global Insurance Services, LLC was founded in October 2001 in Raleigh, North Carolina by John Strayhorn. In 2003, the company moved its headquarters to Ellicott City Maryland, positioning the company closer to international banking centers.

GIS is a full service credit insurance company that offers U.S. Government (Ex-Im Bank) and private export credit insurance products for short and medium term risk mitigation and financing needs. Other services provided include domestic credit insurance and ocean marine insurance.
